Grants from the Ashtabula Foundation benefit all residents throughout Ashtabula County who seek greater quality in their educational, religious and cultural pursuits.  Grants are provided to meet a wide range of needs, from start-up seed money to matching funds for fully funded projects. In addition we are a proactive partner with organizations like the Civic Development Coprporation (CDC) to initiate, develop or support specific programs and projects.

2010 GRANT PROCEDURE

The Board of Trustees of The Ashtabula Foundation has determined that although the economy shows signs of improvement, grant funds will remain limited for the foreseeable future.  Therefore, the Board will continue the grant procedure established in 2009.  The Board will again accept Letters of Intent from 501(c)(3) organizations in Ashtabula County seeking grant funds from the Ashtabula Foundation.  The Board will review and consider all Letters of Intent at the same time. It is the Board’s intention to focus its grant making assistance to the humanitarian needs of those in crisis.

A Letter of Intent will be accepted from all categories of grants, i.e., Recreation/Conservation; Education; Human Services; Arts/Culture/Historical; Religion; and Community Development.  Please do not send a full grant application at this time.  After reviewing all Letters of Intent, your organization will be notified if the Board will entertain a full grant application.

Letters of Intent should be submitted to the Ashtabula Foundation no later than February 1, 2010.  The Letter of Intent should include the following information:

  • A brief description of the reason for your request.
  • What is the dollar amount of your request?
  • Do you have other sources for funding?  If so, list the other sources.
  • Is this project or program something that must be done immediately, or can it be postponed?
  • How would you rate this project as far as priority to your organization? (On a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the highest priority.)
  • How many people will be affected by the grant funding?

If you have any questions, you may contact the office at (440) 992-6818, or by contacting ashtabulafdn@suite224.net.
